The Sydney District Court – Criminal Division is located at the Downing Centre court complex, which used to be the historical Mark Foy’s department store. It shares its registry with the Downing Centre Local Court.
The District Court is a Court of original jurisdiction (ie, where matters are adjudicated on and heard to finality for the first time) and also an appellate Court (where criminal matters from the Local Court are heard on appeal).
In its original jurisdiction, the Court deals with serious criminal charges such as robbery, serious drug supply, serious fraud and sexual assault.
Our criminal lawyers appear before the Sydney District Court regularly, both in its original jurisdiction and on appeals from the various NSW Local Courts.

I was impressed by the advice I was given by Prime Lawyers. It was concise, easy to understand and would achieve my legal outcome in my favour.
Have used Prime on few occasions and each time have found them to professional in the way that they handled all matters. Excellent communication from the start of each matter through to completion. Have no hesitation in recommending them.
If the staff handling our matter were busy throughout the day they would return calls as quickly as possible, the same day. They kept us informed of any changes promptly and spoke to us in simple terms and not ‘Legal Jargon’.
